Cabbage patch ... Presidents (!) on eBay

Mieux vaut en rire!
Better laugh about it!

Do you remember the Cabbage Patch dolls? They became extremely popular in the US in the early 80's, so popular that they embodied at the time the quintessential small business success story ...

Well, it looks like a new version of these dolls is out for auction on eBay. I don't know how long this webpage will be up, so I am posting immediately, sincerely hoping that I'm not breaking any eBay rules or whatever.

At the time of this posting, the Sarah Palin doll is going for $716.00 while the McCain doll and the Obama doll are tied at $510.00 Not much demand for the Biden doll, at the moment, I guess, and it is lagging behind at $227.00.

The website says 100% of the profits from this auction is going to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, so if you are feeling charitable today, go ahead and put in a bid! Aww, come on, go ahead and check them out, you know you want to ...

Click here to see the Sarah Palin doll.
Click here to see the John McCain doll.
Click here to see the Joe Biden doll.
Click here to see the Barrack Obama doll.

These auctions will end on ... November 4, 2008 (of course!).

Obama for President?

Photograph shamelessly stolen from the San Francisco Chronicle.

Let's get something straight.

I didn't always agree with the "Obama people's" vision, nor do I support the idea that he's the Great Messiah (as do many people around me).

In fact, the fanatism I have noticed in the local Obama supporters makes me a little nervous, if you want to know the truth.

But the alternative (seeing the McCain/Palin team in power) scares me shitless (especially Ms. Palin, since I'm being honest, here).

Soooooo, since I have to choose between being "a little nervous" and "scared shitless" I guess I'll be joining the Rednecks above.

Well, that's me.

And you, how are you going to vote? (Just kidding. You don't have to say! ;)

No pressure here, but the *whole world* is watching.

Will America do the "right thing" in November?

Is Fleet Week in San Francisco again!

Blue Angels, San Francisco, October 2008

The Parade of Ships did not go as planned this year but the Blue Angels were present, and once again graced the skies with their skilled manoeuvers.

Every year you hear people complain that the planes are too loud, waste a lot gas and are only an instrument of propaganda for the Navy. Well, that may be true, but personally I love to see these guys up in the sky. And I am not the only one.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of people come from all over the Bay Area to gather up on the waterfront. Others stand on the rooftops, hang at the windows or perch themselves somewhere high up wherever they can, just to see them perform and cheer them on. This year was no exception.

This year, I found a nice little shady spot up on the hill right above the Fort Mason buildings.

The visibility was excellent today and we got to see some of the planes fly right under the Golden Gate Bridge a couple of times ... now that was pretty daring but oh, sooooo cool!

(From the roof of a building on Nob Hill, San Francisco)

Thanks for the fantastic show, guys, see you again next year!

Office Space 2008?

Thank you all very much for all the sweet and supporting comments you guys left on my previous post. It actually helped! :)

I have much to tell you about some of what happened in the Bay Area during the past few weeks (in fact, I might even have a few pictures to show you, we'll see ;) but right now, after working pretty much non-stop on stressful stuff during the past 6 weeks, I feel like could use a nap...

So when I saw this device (above) in the paper today, I immediately started fantasizing about it a little bit.

Sleep deprivation is something most of us are familiar with, unfortunately, so I thought I'd share this with all of you. I couldn't find out how much that thing costs, but pretty much everything else you want to know about the device is at this website.

Come on, you know you want one! ;)

See you soon!
