It's definitely Thanksgiving

I was really surprised to see these wild birds hang out in front of the driveway a couple of evenings ago (I'm not kidding). I believe they are wild geese (?) rather than turkeys, but in a pinch ...

I apologize for the quality of the pictures. These birds didn't give me a lot of time to frame the shot, nor did the drivers behind me ;)

Meanwhile, in the stores ...

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody.

Hi T.F.,

Yup, those most certainly ARE wild turkeys -- doesn't look like they have much meat on them...

I've been wondering about the population explosion of these creatures here in Marin -- there are flocks all over the place -- Mt. Tam, China Camp, Lucas Valley, etc...

I finally got around to Googling "wild turkeys marin county", and came up with this interesting article:
http://articles.latimes.com/2003/sep/02/local/me-turkeys2

Another population explosion has been coyotes, especially in the Marin Headlands area... Now they have signs all over warning not to feed or approach them...

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving, T.F...
I stopped doing the "family thing" about eight years ago (oh you know how it is -- people die and others disown you) but I had a great day with a trip to Big Sur and all points between...

Hope you had a good one too, T.F...
