The Blue Angels / Les Anges Bleus (Fr/En)

English Version Below

This Photograph from the US Navy's website

Since they tell us that to stand a chance to be happy in life, we must learn to appreciate the little things as they come, I got the idea to take a picture of the Blue Angels as they were practicing for this week-end's show in San Francisco, when I was in a meeting last week. I'm hoping that if I ever see these pictures again in a few years, it is not the topic of the reunion that I will remember (hopefully) but the beautiful yellow/orange color painted on the bottom of these marvelous planes, the speed at which they flew right by our windows, and the spectacular acrobatics I saw them do out of the corner of my eyes.

As soon as I could, I ran out of the building to try to take these pictures for you all. I know they're not the best pictures in the world, but you gotta understand, these planes move FAST! In fact, I ended up just holding the camera up in the air in the general direction and just clicking as soon as I heard them come back, because otherwise, if you try to take the time to look into the camera, by the time you click, they're already gone! Anyway, Blue Angels, my hat off to you. You guys are amazing.

Wish I could have gone to the show this week-end. Maybe some local bloggers managed to take better pictures? By the way, to download a screen saver or other Blue Angels' goodies for the computer, or just to see better pictures, click here.

PS. ;-)

PS. By the way, this post is by no means an advertisement for the U.S. Navy. Just thought I'd mention it, just in case some of you were wondering ;-)

Impressionnant !

My husband is positively addicted to planes flying in formation, doesn't matter where they are from. Last year, just as we were about to drive home from a weekend spent on Mont St. Michel, we spotted the Patrouille de France doing some wild acrobatics over the island itself.

He almost killed both of us pulling the car over, grabbing the camera, and taking some pictures, but the results were spectacular. Sheep grazing in the foreground, Mt. St. Michel in the background, and the planes overhead...

And thank goodness he was so fast because as quickly as they flew in, they were gone again.

Man, that picture you have with Coit Tower in the background makes me homesick.

Fde Coeur: That's because planes in formation are too cool! Glad you got some cool pix. Mt. St. Michel alone can make wonderful photographs, but if you had the opportunity to get planes in there with it, then totally I understand your husband's reaction ;-)

Lovely photos! I was last there in Oct 2002. I had my very slow camera and failed to get any decent shots of the fly by's. I'm glad technology has sped up since then. But when will I be back again.. I guess I'll live it through photos for now. :)
