Why do you blog? Didn't you ever ask yourself that question? I'd love to tell you why I started this blog and keep doing it despite the lack of time, but right now it's your turn to speak up. Why do you do blog and/or comment on blogs?
Pourquoi blogguez vous? Vous êtes vous jamais posé la question? Je vous dirais volontiers pourquoi j'ai commencé à bloguer et pourquoi je continue malgré le manque de temps, mais pour le moment, c'est vous qui avez la parole. Pourquoi blogguez-vous et pourquoi laissez-vous des commentaires sur les autres blogs?
Oh, OK ne pleurez pas, le voici! La lumière était mauvaise ce jour là.

Autre chose que j'aimerais bien entendre c'est votre avis sur ce que vous auriez envie de voir sur ce blog. Ma soeur m'a déjà dit qu'elle voudrait voir d'avantage de photos. Et vous autres? A vous la parole et à très bientôt.

I blog because my friend Alan did. I thought it was hilarious and it would give me something to do. I used to keep a diary - though never saw the point in it being secret. Writing is communication, and it's a bit pointless if you're only communicating with yourself.
Blogging has all the advantages of a diary: You can have some feeling of release and it's quite cathartic.
Blogging has none of the disadvantages of a diary: You don't have to be scared that someone's going to find it (unless, of course, you advertise your name, location et al).
It's fabulous.
In the words of those damned questionaire emails, you get to learn things about yourself and about others.
I started a blog as some sort of a challenge to myself, to find a topic on which to write every single day. I have to brag here - I have seldom missed a posting day, except when I was away from home, without an internet connection.
I like the fact that keeping a blog allows me to have a record of what's going on in my life, my preoccupations and concerns at a given time. It also allows me to let my friends and relatives who live far (or not so far) away keep track of what's going on in my life. I know that they appreciate that.
I do not comment on a lot of blogs, my blogroll is relatively small, I do read every blog on it everyday, but comment sporadically. I have vouched never to comment again on entries with any sort of a political or hot social topic. I just don't like being insulted because I have expressed some opinion that another commenter does not like.
I have had just a couple of bouts with other bloggers, including one that lasted for quite a while. I finally managed to avoid any contact with that nasty individual - which I had to do by stopping reading one blog I really liked, but on which he was a commenter and on which he would gratuitously attack nearly everyone of my most innocuous comments.
This is only cyberspace, we have to take it in jest - because there are a lot of lunatics online. But I have also met great people through my blog, and I am very grateful for that.
Tomate - I really like it when you post pics of SF. I also like it when you talk about yourself.
I originally wanted to spend time writing in English. I’ve reached a point where I fluently speak the language. I’ve also reached a point where people can’t even tell that I’m French; I’ve worked on modifying my accent (many asked me why I would lose this “cute” accent). Result: People still know that I’m not American, but they can’t tell I’m French. Victory! When they try guessing, they usually say: “Scottish?” Interesting… Anyway, I consider that I haven’t spent enough time writing in English. That is why I’ve begun blogging. As well, I was reading other blogs and I got frustrated: I couldn’t find any with my kind of profile: gay, French, expatriate, living in the USA… I wanted to see what other people with my profile experienced, but I couldn’t. I thought I could give a little voice to a category of people we barely hear about. “Little”: because the nature of my blog leads to a very limited audience.
I blog because three months ago I didn't really know what a blog was. When I found out, I also found out I could make my own. I liked Eric's blog, Parisdailyphoto, and I modeled my blog after his. I found your blog on Parisdailyphoto as well, and I like it because I'm studying French. It's very helpful to read the French and, if I need a little help, the English.
I also blog because I can (my job is sometimes a little boring and not too difficult).
If all the kids spray painting on walls were given a laptop to blog with, there'd be a lot less graffiti.

Pour être honnête, l'envie de créer un blog personnel ne m'attirait pas particulièrement, et ceux que j'avais vus jusqu'à présent étaient, pour l'essentiel, des "délires" d'adolescents qui se prenaient en photo sous toutes les coutures et s'invectivaient sans retenue (ce qui, entre nous soit dit, n'est pas un gage de tolérance mais je m'égare...).
Bref, de blog tu ne créeras point m'étais je dit... jusqu'à ce que, bien entendu, je prenne la décision contraire.
Je naviguais donc tranquillement sur le web, à la recherche de sites rédigés par des américains et racontant leurs séjours en France, histoire de voir quel regard ils portaient sur notre façon de vivre, lorsque je suis "tombé" sur le site "Why Travel To France dont le contenu et le ton m'ont tout de suite intéressé.
J'ajoute que, pour des raison professionnelles, je dois améliorer mon anglais écrit et je me voyais mal faisant des dictées sur un coin de table (beurk !!!). L'idée d'un blog rédigé en français mais comportant des traductions anglaises m'a paru plutôt sympa et ludique. Tout ce qu'il fallait pour me donner le petit "plus" de motivation qui me manquait car, il faut bien l'avouer, je n'étais pas jusqu'à présent un fana de l'écrit dans la langue de Shakespeare du moment que je me débrouillais à peu près pour lire.
Cela fait à peine une dizaine de jours que j'ai sauté le pas et je dois dire que cela m'intéresse de plus en plus. Non seulement je trouve à chaque visite matière à acquérir de nouvelles connaissances sur des lieux, des individus ou des façons de vivre, mais également mon vocabulaire semble commencer à s'enrichir par la force des choses puisqu'il me faut traduire mon petit message chaque jour.
Mon blog est forcément embryonnaire, mais il commence à avoir ses visiteurs réguliers (merci Tomate Farcie pour m'avoir référencé sur ton blog perso...) et cela suffit à rendre la rédaction de mes petits billets agréable. Je n'ai nullement l'intention d'être connu de la planète Web entière, et je verrai cela plutôt comme un cercle d'amis qui ont plaisir à passer de temps en temps, juste pour voir si la lumière est allumée.
Concernant l'évolution de ton blog, je dirai qu'il me convient déjà tout à fait tel qu'il est actuellement. Cela étant dit, je suis comme tout le monde et j'apprécie les photos, alors ne te gênes pas pour nous en offrir. Mon plus grand souhait sera très simple en fait : conserve l'humour dont tu nous gratifie (j'ai encore présent en mémoire le "disclaimer" sur les crabes et ça me fait toujours autant rire).

J'ai commencé à bloguer comme ça par curiosité parce que mon frère le faisait et que j'ai toujours écrit dans de cahiers. Quadn j'ai commencé, je n'avais aucune idée de ce que j'allais écrire sur le long terme. La naissance de mon blog à coïncider avec la naissance d'une histoire d'amour un peu particulière et au fil du temps, c'est devenu une sorte de roman d ma vie. Cela fait maintenant plus d'un an et je trouve que l'écriture m'apporte une sorte d'équilibre.
Pourquoi je commente, parce qu'au fil du temps les auteurs des blogs sont devenus des amis virtuels et même rééls puisque j'en ai rencontré en vraie.
Pour ton blog, je ne sais pas parce que je viens d'arriver. J'ai noté ton adresse dans un magazine.
I blog mainly because I want to share my experiences. I also hope the people who read me would always learn a little something from what I wrote.
I recently discovered it could also be a good way to meet new people that are nice and interesting. ;o)
I leave a comment when I have something to say in regards to the article. (duh!)
What I want to see on your blog ? Just be yourself and keep blogging just like you're used to : keep it like this.

I did want to say that no matter what, YOU Have to be interested in what you blog or it might turn out to be a chore. Readers will come and go, but if you're interested, then it won't matter.

Pour ma part j'ai commencé quand je suis partie un mois en californie en septembre dernier. Je voulais rester en contact avec mes amis sans avoir à me répéter ou à écrire plusieurs mails. Ils étaient tous un peu septiques car je partais en couchsurfing donc chez l'habitant. Puis au fur et à mesure le blog évolue parfois je parle de moi, parfois ce que je fais genre bricolage ou cuisine ... mais y a des moments où on a pas d'idée et pas d'envie de blogger. On sait qu'il y a un début et une fin sauf que la dernière elle arrive sans qu'on s'y attende :)
J'aime beaucoup ton blog car j'ai adoré SF et les personnes que j'y ai rencontré.

I started to log since a long time before the blog, it was in /var/log expressing to all users that were logging to the computers I was administering, my though, fun, facts and news and other unusefull things, when the web came my log was neary not used, I didn't really understood that within the WWW my log will become a weblog and then a blog (I admit most of my technology predictions are 100% wrong), but I kept the habit of logging, while moving away from many of the servers I was administering (snif snif) I moved later to the blog, a kind of diary I think...
Hey, Jean-Philippe, long time!! I suspected that you were around on the WWW from the very beginining.

J'avais commence a bloguer pour les copains, la famille, qui finalement ne va presque jamais sur le blog!!!

Ensuite j'ai decouvert que ca me poussait a ecrire, a essayer de partager mes idees!
Avant tout c'est un tres bon outil pour rencontrer et discuter avec des gens sympas !
Ca me permet d'ajouter mon p'tit grain de sel sur la toile!
mais egalement j'essaye de faire plein d'autres choses aussi ! c'est important d'avoir une vie sociale non virtuelle aussi!!! j'aurai tendance a passer trop de temps sur mon ordi!!!
