Too hot to blog! / Trop chaud pour bloguer!

Photograph from Nick UT, AP

Sorry, guys, but this week-end was much too hot to go around outside looking for pictures for the blog, or even sit at the computer and think about writing a post. Even in the Bay Area, temperatures soared to the 3 digits. Not too far from where I live, it was 113 degrees Farenheit ... The East Bay's Target, Costco, Home Depot, and Longs were completely sold out of fans by Saturday already and people were desperate to get away from the heat one way or the other... In San Francisco, in the Avenues, the weather was much more pleasant, but down near the SBC baseball park was another story... Ah, that kid on the picture above seems to have the right idea...

Needless to say, this morning, when I saw a little bit of fog making its way over the Golden Gate Bridge and into the Bay, I was overjoyed! I just wish I could bottle up some for the next heat wave ...

Wow! This heat wave thing is getting out of hand. Has anybody seen Al Gore around lately? To beat the heat, I'm off to India this week (bulot), but at least there's a/c in the hotel.

LOL...was just checking out Eric's post on the World Cup "loss" and noticed he now has 90 comments! Of course, at least 50% of them are you and me! Does that make us "blog-hogs"?

Argh...

I did not realize how bad in was in SF. I was watching CNN yesterday morning, and all surrounding areas were in the 90's but, for some strange reason, San Francisco was supposed to be only 75. Is that truly possible? And, to begin with, was it true?

Michael: Have fun in India. Maybe you should start taking pictures when you travel and start blogging again? :-D

Michael (2): Yeah, I realize that but I think it's OK. That's what blog-threads are for! Hopefully, Eric doesn't mind our having a little fun on his blog. :-D

Dr. Denton: Your friend was longing for the NYC weather?!! Now, I don't know about that!!! I've been in Manhattan in the middle of the summer, and it's no picnic either! Fortunately, the fog showed up Monday and she's probably much more comfortable now.

Elizabeth: Yes, it's true. There is often a 20 degrees difference between San Francisco and its surrounding counties. I should know, I lived in Marin County, North of San Francisco, for year. Every time you cross the Golden Gate Bridge through the fog and over the Sausalito hill, it's like entering a different country, weatherwise. But San Francisco, too, is known for its micro-climats and you always have to layer up around here or carry a windbreaker in a backpack, just in case the fog starts rolling down the hill unexpectedly. The temperature is sometimes different from one side of the street to the other...

Bonsoir,

Didier (photo blog)

Hey stranger, where do YOU live?!? (it's cold here...) ;-)

I need to ask you, has the grass always been that yellow (see my post yesterday) or did I just forget everything while I was gone.

Stay cool.
